CoinDesk's Bitcoin Price Index (XBX) read $82,635 at 5:00 a.m. EDT on October 9, up $932, or 1.14%, from a previous close of $81,703. MarketWatch's quote page put the morning day range at $81,553 to $82,669. The 52-week range on that same page ran from $57,754 to $122,557.

The bounce is a partial retrace, not a new high. MarketWatch's daily table shows the October 8 session opened at $83,386, traded down to $80,343, and closed at $81,703. October 7 closed at $83,386. October 6 closed at $85,617. From the October 5 close of $85,720 to the October 8 close, the index gave back about $4,017.

Fund flow data published for the prior session still points the other way. The BitGuard tracker, citing Farside Investors as of October 8, logged a $485 million net outflow from U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs on the latest published day, a $312 million outflow over seven days, and a $2.74 billion inflow over 30 days across 12 funds. BlackRock's IBIT accounted for $208 million of that daily withdrawal, Fidelity's FBTC $105 million, and ARK 21Shares' ARKB $102 million. A separate write-up dated October 8 put Wednesday's net withdrawal at $484.9 million, the largest since June 25.

Key takeaways

What does the $82,635 print say after a $485 million ETF day?

The morning price is above the October 8 close and still under the October 7 close. That leaves the index inside the range already printed this week, not through it. The ETF figure is a lagging print: BitGuard's snapshot is dated October 8 and refers to the latest published day, which lines up with Wednesday's $484.9 million withdrawal in the Farside-based recap. Thursday's fund totals were not on that page.

Ether funds were also in the red on that same snapshot, with a $161 million net outflow on the latest published day and $566 million over seven days. Thirty-day Ether ETF flow was still positive, at $749 million. Bitcoin's 30-day ETF total, $2.74 billion, is the larger of the two, which is why a single $485 million day erases October's early inflows without wiping the month-long total.

What to watch next

The next Farside table will show whether Thursday extended the withdrawal or reversed it. On price, $80,343 is the October 8 low on the MarketWatch series, and $83,386 is the prior close the index has not retaken. OKX's history page had an October 9 session high of $82,748.80 and a last listed print of $82,662.50, close to the CoinDesk figure but not identical. Those are different indexes. The number to cite for this morning is the XBX print: $82,635.
